Abstract

This study aims to highlight the negative aspects of the organizational scheme of the World Cup in Football, of the European Championship and other similar activities. The first Mundial in Uruguay, in 1930, took place with the participation of 13 countries. After that, up to the 12th World Cup, the initial number of participants was 16 and in 1982, in Spain, the
number of teams increased in 24, number that was maintained until the 15th Mundial. From 1998 onwards, FIFA decided to increase the number of teams from 24 to 32. We have to say that the quantitative increase of the number of teams of the activity, would undoubtedly, bring out qualitative problems, that reflect unpleasant phenomena during the closing phase of this major activity.
